Photogrammetry is our passion

Deep3D relish the challenge and the excitement of scanning a subject – particularly if it is underwater – through building the model to that moment a solid, scaled 3D model arrives from the printers.

SS Thistlegorm

Near Ras Muhammad, Red Sea.
SS Thistlegorm was a British armed Merchant Navy ship built in 1940 by Joseph Thompson & Son in Sunderland, England. She was sunk on 6 October 1941 near Ras Muhammad in the Red Sea and is now a well known diving site. with the site extending over 140m long and sitting in 32m of water. The wreck can be subject to strong currents and variable underwater visibility. The explosion that sunk the ship scattered objects of interest over the seabed, including the two locomotives that reside on the port and starboard sides of the wreck. By the end of the photogrammetry survey a total of 12 dives were logged and a total of 13 hours 45 minutes of in-water time recorded.

A visual guide to the SS Thistlegorm is available on Apple Books.

Submarine UB116, Scapa Flow

Orkney Islands, Scotland
The wreck of UB-116 has been documented using photogrammetry and both the 3D models and detailed 2D site plan of the submarine as she lies today are included in an e-book, available on Apple Books. Both model and plan serve as an excellent guide for anyone wishing to explore this wreck without getting wet. For divers visiting this wreck, this guide is an invaluable companion to help understand what lies on the seabed.
